Any dirt will do, but this is the cracked floor at our family ranch on the Texas border, in Laredo. I have fond memories looking for quartz, fossils and arrowheads. Many of my relatives dead and alive have sifted through this dry creek bed looking for things left behind from whomever was here when it had water flowing. I wish I could participate in this history more, but painting is close enough.
