Blue
by Vy Ngo
Oil and acrylic, 2016
“Blue” is part of a series that is reflective upon various aspects of cultural identity. She poses questions on how we interpret the appearance of others, the subconscious associations we may have regarding community, ethnicity or gender, and how that internal dialogue can either hold us back or open us up to a better understanding of human identity and personal awareness. Through vivid colors, bold brushstrokes, and influences of street art, she is fearless, strong, and unwavering in her determination to be seen for her own truth.
