Depicted are Oaxacan Mezcalero, Emigdio Jarquín Ramírez and a roasted agave piña. Emigdio learned the ways of mezcal production from his grandfather. Three generations of knowledge goes into each of his bottles. Perched at around 5,000 feet above sea level outside of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Emigdio’s palenque is about two and a half hours south of Oaxaca City. This image is a part of my current traveling exhibition "Oaxacan Gold."
