About The Gallery


Each year the Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Development Department presents the People’s Gallery exhibition, designed to showcase regional artistic endeavors and to encourage public dialogue, understanding, and enjoyment of the visual arts. Since 2005, Austin City Hall has been an annual showcase for works by Austin-area artists. The goals of the program are to present a series of exhibitions that reflect the artistic excellence and diversity of Austin, and to promote the City’s cultural and economic initiatives. The works presented span a range of sensibilities and materials while holding to a high standard of quality in the field. The success of this program would not be possible without the Austin artists, galleries, and collectors, who generously loan their pieces to the exhibition for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.


The 2022 exhibition will be on display from June 3rd, 2022, through May 1st, 2024. Visitors can view the exhibition during regular business hours, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.


The 2022 exhibition presents works by over 100 artists. A panel of arts professionals reviewed over 1,100 entries, submitted by over 300 local artists and arts organizations.

The 2022 exhibition includes a special selection of 2D artworks from the organizations Art From The Streets, Imagine Art and SAGE Studio, located on the first floor.

Art From the Streets:

Art From the Streets provides a safe and encouraging environment for persons experiencing homelessness and those who are at risk, providing a pathway to improvement through the pursuit of art.

Imagine Art:

Imagine Art is a local nonprofit whose mission is to place and leverage art, to empower artists with disabilities to become creative catalysts for changing systems of day habitation, and to provide long-term care, peer support, and affordable housing.

SAGE Studio:

SAGE Studio & Gallery is a non-profit organization in East Austin that provides artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities the materials, space, and support to produce, exhibit, and sell their artwork.

A diverse panel of three local visual arts professionals served as the jury this year: Alejandra Almuelle, Valerie Fowler, and Ryan Runcie. The exhibition was managed and designed by Exhibit Coordinator Philip Rogers, with assistance from Meghan Wells, Cultural Arts Division Manager.


Many of the works in the exhibition are for sale by the artists. Pricing and contact information are included in the gallery guides, which may be found in the second-floor lobby rack. Sales are transacted directly through the artists.
